Basilica of Saint-Thérèse of Lisieux
France's second-largest pilgrimage site after Lourdes, the Sainte-Thérèse Basilica is the jewel in the crown of the town of Lisieux.
A visit to this edifice is a must, and well worth your time, given its architectural riches: 18 altars, sculptures, mosaics and stained-glass windows, organ...
Built in the 20th century, the basilica can hold 400 people..
Saint Germain castle
Owned by the City of Lisieux since 1958, the Saint Germain de Livet castle is a very picturesque construction surrounded by a moat. The Castle combines, with great charm, medieval traditions (moat and loopholes to protect oneself from enemies) and Renaissance traditions which suggest a new art of living: arcaded gallery, wall paintings (guard room). Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays.
Closed from 1st to 15th octobrer and from 1st december to 31st january.
Pays d'Auge gardens in Cambremer at 10 km from Lisieux
Multitudes of plant atmospheres, punctuated by picturesque little half-timbered buildings, which follow one another, respond to each other thanks to the significant changes in levels and the presence of water. Scented gardens, rose garden, Devil's garden, Angels' garden.
Museum of old tools and bakery museum. From 1st May to 30th September from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day. From 1st October to 15th November from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Cerza Zoo at few minutes from Lisieux
Come and discover this park where 600 animals live in semi-freedom on 60 hectares of meadows and green valleys. 2 walking circuits (for approximately 3 Kms of walking) and 1 PHOTO SAFARI on a small train (included in the entry fee), will take you to meet bears, lions, white tigers, giraffes, rhinoceroses, numerous species of monkeys. The Dame Blanche Nature Farm just next to Lisieux
On 3 hectares in the shade of apple trees, discover more than 70 breeds of domestic and ornamental animals in their natural environment, numerous poultry varieties, a conservatory of endangered domestic breeds. The Nature Farm is an educational place offering children direct contact with animals. March, September and October: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Monday and Saturday). From Easter holidays to the end of August: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
